MAGNET (Mechanisms Affecting Galaxies Nearby and Environmental Trends) is a multiwavelength program that has the aim of giving the definite answer on the relative importance and effectiveness of different mechanisms in affecting galaxy properties in all environments in the local universe.
The program started in the fall 2024 and so far it was awarded with 1300 hours of observing time at VST.
Our plan is for MAGNET to include a few observing programs:
Halpha imaging with the VST (approved)
HI and radio continuum imaging with MeerKAT (proposed)
X-ray imaging with XMM-Newton (proposed)
