How to reach us:
Trieste is located in the northeast corner of Italy, close to the Slovenian border. Trieste enjoys a unique and beautiful natural location as it is surrounded by the Carsic hills and the Adriatic Sea.
By Train
Trains operated by Trenitalia travel frequently between Trieste and major Italian cities. Other options from Germany and Austria are operated by DeutscheBahn and OBB, respectively.
By Plane
Arriving by plane, one can choose to land at Trieste Airport (TRS - formerly Ronchi dei Legionari Airport), or Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). Trieste airport is directly connected to the city by train through its Intermodal Hub (station “Trieste airport”). From Venezia Marco Polo airport, ATVO buses take passengers to Venezia Mestre Railway station (25 min.). From Mestre station you cab reach Trieste by train in about 1h 50 min. If you fly to/from Venice, an alternative option could be using a shared shuttle service (GoOpti).
By Bus (from Trieste Central Station)
From the railway station either by taxi (10 min.) or by bus line 1 (20 min) from the end-of-line stop opposite the station main entrance (you can use other bus lines but need to walk a few minutes). Get off in Piazza Sansovino stop and turn upwards to Via Bramante and to the stairs to the Observatory.
From downtown Trieste (Piazza Oberdan), bus lines to the Observatory are line 15 and line 16. Both lines stop in via Tiepolo.
You may check up-to-date timetables at www.triestetrasporti.it (click on linee e orari). You can buy your ticket on the bus, simply using your credit/debit card.
