Shikshapatri Dwishatabdi Utsav Live Events
📜 The Story of Shikshapatri :
The creation of the Shikshapatri by Bhagwan Swaminarayan is one of the most sacred and powerful moments in the history of the Swaminarayan tradition. It was born from His deep compassion for every living being and His divine wish to lead every soul toward true salvation and His strong desire to guide humanity toward a pure, meaningful, and disciplined life.
On Vasant Panchami, 11 February 1826, Bhagwan Swaminarayan personally wrote the Shikshapatri with His own hands at Vadtal, at the bungalow of Shri Rampratapbhai, one of the main spiritual centers of Gujarat. This was not just the writing of a book. It was the gifting of a life manual for the soul.
He first called Shukanand Swami and asked him to bring writing materials. Then, Bhagwan Swaminarayan Himself sat down and composed 212 Sanskrit verses in a very short time. Each verse was filled with divine wisdom, designed to shape both sadhus (ascetics) and householders into strong, noble, and spiritually awakened individuals.
The Shikshapatri stands on four pillars: Dharma (righteous living), Gnan (spiritual wisdom), Vairagya (detachment from harmful desires), and Bhakti (devotion to God).
It gives clear guidance for daily life, relationships, social conduct, self-discipline, and moral strength. It is meant for everyone — students, professionals, families, men and women alike.
After completing this divine work, Bhagwan Swaminarayan named it the Shikshapatri and instructed all followers to listen to it regularly and live by its teachings so they may achieve true inner growth and lasting peace.
Under the spiritual guidance of HDH Guruji, the SMVS organization has created Shikshapatri Saar — a simple and practical presentation of the core teachings of the Shikshapatri.
It transforms the 212 verses into easy, actionable life principles that today’s generation can understand, connect with, and apply in daily life.
This is not just history. This is guidance for your future.
