This workshop explores the societal impact of cybersecurity education, focusing on its potential to improve employability, engage marginalized groups and foster inclusivity. It emphasizes how targeted training in cybersecurity can uplift diverse sectors, from unemployed high-school graduates to adults re-entering the workforce and women in a predominantly male industry.
A special highlight of the workshop will be a live demonstration of an award-winning cybersecurity training video game, developed by a group of students. The game, which has garnered recognition for its innovative approach to cybersecurity education, will be presented by its creators.
Panel discussions will feature case studies from Italy, alongside insights from international speakers (United States, Mexico, Argentina, and China) to offer a comparative perspective. Contributions will span various stages of education, professional training and community-driven initiatives, with the goal of showcasing practical applications of cybersecurity education for social good.
Focus on how cybersecurity education can create career opportunities, especially for underrepresented groups like unemployed high-school graduates and older generations.Â
This panel emphasizes the importance of promoting cybersecurity education among marginalized communities, including women, youth from underserved neighborhoods, and individuals with disabilities, as a tool for social mobility.
Discussions will center around the role of teachers and professors, along with researchers, in developing and implementing effective cybersecurity education programs.
This panel will provide a comparative view, with academics from different countries sharing their insights and experiences. It aims to examine how different nations address cybersecurity education, what challenges they face and what lessons can be learned across borders.
