Adult community volunteers walk with students to and from school or school bus stops to get them to school safely and on time
The adult volunteers will be thoroughly vetted and trained before the program begins. They will also be paid a stipend of $800/semester. We hope that the majority will be Marshall parents themselves — even you could sign up to do it! But there may be other community volunteers as well.
Your student will be assigned to a specific route with a designated pick up time. Just like a yellow school bus, they will need to be outside and ready to go at that time. Before your first day, we’ll make sure that you know exactly where and when your student needs to be picked up.
Your student’s route will be thoroughly vetted for safety considerations, and will avoid high-traffic areas. Volunteers will also be trained on traffic safety, and will have a clear procedure for reporting unsafe conditions.
Your student will be taken to school every morning (arriving by 7:10 to ensure they can get breakfast), and will be picked up after school every afternoon. If you only need help with one of those shifts, you can indicate that on the sign up form above.
