Welcome to Buckman SUN!

Welcome to Buckman SUN! Our SUN Community School (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) program supports the Buckman community by offering educationally enriching after-school classes; community gatherings; winter craft classes and family engagement events; life skills classes for caregivers; and social support coordination for students and families. Buckman's SUN program is a collaboration of Multnomah County Department of County Human Services, Impact Northwest, and Portland Public Schools.

Please see our support opportunities page! We are especially looking for help with our multicultural arts nights program for the 2023-24 school year.

SUN 1st Grade Movement Class

Does your child love to move, express, and emote? We are offering a first-grade-only "Movement and Emotion" class, which will be set up like a dance and movement class, with social emotional skills exploration built in. Instructor Roxanna is completing her PhD capstone project here at Buckman, and we are so excited to offer her skillset to this age group. Please reach out to Clara Schneid (SUN) for scholarship opportunities.

Registration will be available by phone, email, or through the SUN ActiveWorks registration portal, beginning Monday, March 25. This 8-week program will be held on Mondays from 3pm-4:15. The cost is $148 for the full term. Please contact Clara (cschneid@impactnw.org) for scholarship information.
