Who We Are

Executive Board & Board Of Directors

John "JJ" Hall

President & Executive Director

John, more commonly known as JJ to family and friends, has long been involved in advocacy, making impacts since a young teen. Starting THRO (Teens for Human Rights Organization) with High School friends, working his way through other organizations like Key/Kiwanis Club, Central Jersey Blood Center, and many other civic and social organizations. All of this led him to head IMPACT alongside a diverse and talented group of individuals on a mission to bridge the gap between the needs of the community and the resources to make it happen.

He grew up in Brick, NJ with strong family roots in Bayonne and Jersey City. After moving around NJ, NYC, and Miami, he has put down roots of his own in Asbury Park. John is an entrepreneur with a vast background in hospitality, personal and small business banking and lending, solar, real estate, start-up business consulting & development, and holds many licenses.

John is passionate about LGBTQ issues, mental health & addiction issues, as well as children & family programs and services. He has a strong connection to all of these issues as he has first hand experience with coming out as a gay man, navigating family and relationship mental health needs and addictions for those he held close along with dealing with forms of social services, or lack thereof, throughout childhood. John knows how consequential this work is to those in need & how best to make a profound, positive impact in the community.

Jessica Segura

VP & Assistant Director

At 34 years of age Jessica's aspirations and passions have taken her all over the world. From volunteering in her birthplace of Bogota, Colombia, to making numerous contributions in her current home town of Brick, New Jersey, she knows from personal experience that no act is ever too small.

When visiting her family in Colombia she spends a majority of her time striving to make a difference in someone's life. Whether Jessica is volunteering in a local soup kitchen, handing money to someone in need, or taking an unhoused person for necessities you can always feel her passion for it all. Although she cant spend as much time in Colombia as she would like she still manages to make an impact all the way from Jersey whether that be by her yearly clothing drive or her yearly contribution to her uncles toy drive.

Jessica is well known in her home town of Brick for always being involved in helping her community in one form or another. She has worked along side various establishments including Beacon 70 and The Shore House Bar & Grill. Giving back has always been a corner stone of Jessica’s life and like most people, Jessica had a lot of time during the pandemic to reflect on her day-to-day. The hustle and work ethic that was filling her in one capacity was leaving her feeling empty in another. After learning of IMPACT and all that it encompasses, she dove in head first at opportunity to give back to the community on a more consistent basis. In the next couple of months she hopes to bring awareness to causes that are meaningful to her and hopes to make lasting, meaningful friendships along the way.

Loreen "Renee" Semienick

Secretary

Loreen Semienick, known to her friends and family as Renee, was born in Jersey City and currently lives in Old Bridge. She worked as a union mail carrier with the USPS for 19 years. She left to become a foster parent with the Department of Youth and Family Services.

Her and her husband adopted two special needs siblings leading her to become a full-time homemaker. At this juncture, Renee would like to volunteer and help make an impact on communities in need. She became interested in mental health and disability issues along with the hardships of families trying to navigate the system for services for themselves, and their children alike. Easing the stress through assistance programs, everything from forms to funding, can make a world of a difference in their day-to-day life.

Now that her children are young adults, she loves spending her spare time outdoors with her family and dog. From hiking to camping, she is passionate about keeping nature free from litter and has participated in several beach clean-ups to protect our shore. Renee plans to channel her passions into action through Impact to make profound, positive change.

Karen Ciely

Treasurer

Karen is a native New Jerseyan, born in Bayonne and now living “down the shore” in Asbury Park. Prior to living down the shore, Karen lived and worked in Hollywood, Florida where she was an active member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and graduate of Leadership Hollywood. She currently works with Carnival Cruise Line as a Personal Vacation Planner guaranteeing that her guests have the best vacation on their FUN ship cruise.

Karen was a fundraising coordinator for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training endurance sports training program. She has also completed several endurance sports events as a fundraising effort and raised over $10,000 for research.

In order to love your community, you must be part of the community to truly make an impact. IMPACT provides the connection to the local urban community. As a board member and Treasurer, she can be proactive in building the organization and provide the resources to make the connection to this unique community.

Karen can be found on the boardwalk in the early mornings reading a book while enjoying coffee and the ocean or riding her bike.

Eric Pinckney

Board Member

Eric is a news editor and designer for Gannett, Inc. and has worked for that company for almost 20 years. He has worked in fundraising and volunteerism ever since he was a teenager and more recently founded and instituted NJ’s glamorous and extravagant Pink Prom about 10 years ago. The annual event was formed to give members of the LGBTQ+ community a fun environment to celebrate prom, some of which couldn’t enjoy their own proms out and proud. All monies raised goes to an LGBTQ+ organization.

He is a community board member of the Prevention Resource Network and is active in politics and activism, particularly spending a number of years on the school board of Asbury Park, NJ, and working with several organizations to move forward the advancement of the persons of color (POC) and LGBTQ+ communities. Eric also works with the Brian Holland Legacy Foundation where they put on the huge Mardi Gras Ball, an annual event that supports LGBTQ+ organizations. The foundation celebrates the life of Brian Holland, one of his best friends who has passed away.

Eric is a drag performer, NJ’s favorite old school glamour drag queen diva, Miss Savannah Georgia. He has been performing for over 5 years in clubs, bars, restaurants, private parties, gala fundraisers, brunches, tea dances, concerts, and more. Anywhere there is a stage, you might find Miss Savannah. Drag is his passion, and helping people escape from their troubles to enjoy themselves for the time he's on stage. His drag inspirations are Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Cher, Mariah Carey and Gladys Knight. Plus … "I live for the applause, being on stage, and seeing others smile."
