In the art classroom we strive to foster an environment of creative exploration in order for students to grow and express themselves. To do this, we will learn how to properly handle materials to keep ourselves and our classmates safe. 

We will also learn how to treat one another with respect so that our classroom allows for the best creative expression possible. 

Any deviation from the guidelines surrounding safety and classmate respect will be reflected in a student's grade. I believe in open communication so please feel free to reach out to me about the classroom or your student at any time! 

My guidelines for the classroom are simple:

1. Respect People and Property

Use kind words and actions.

Respect classmates, the teacher, and their artwork.

Take care of art supplies and clean up after yourself.

2. Listen and Follow Directions

Eyes and ears on the teacher during instructions.

Follow directions the first time they are given.

3. Be Safe with Tools and Materials

Use art tools (scissors, glue, paint, etc.) only as directed.

Walk in the art room—no running.

Keep hands, feet, and supplies to yourself.

4. Try Your Best and Be Creative

Everyone is an artist—just do your best!

Be open to new ideas and experiment with materials.

Mistakes are part of learning. Happy accidents! Whatever you create is your artwork; there is no "right" or "wrong"!

5. Work Quietly and Stay on Task

Use inside voices.

Stay in your seat unless told otherwise.

Focus on your own work—don’t distract others.

6. Clean Up When You’re Done

Start cleaning up when the teacher says.

Put materials away neatly and correctly.

Help others if you finish early.
