Class overview
GTT (Gateway to Technology) is part of the 12-week 6th-grade elective wheel. Students will be learning about design through a variety of engineering challenges. They will learn the use many of the MakerSpace tools including the Laser Cutter and 3D printers. The projects will vary depending on student interest.
Every student in this class is capable of earning a good grade. There are a number of resources available to you (both for student and family use) which you can access from my Canvas course.
About me
Teaching Experience
I love teaching and working with young people. I have taught science for 20+ years and have been at iMiddle since it's beginning. It is the best school I have ever worked at. I have been teaching engineering and design classes at iMiddle for almost 10 years. Before iMiddle I taught at Madison High School in the Design and Technology Academy. I taught Advanced Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Science. Before that, I taught middle school in Alaska and ran the technology lab at Lewis Middle School.
Credentials
I recently completed a Master's in Educational Technology and SDSU's NOYCE science fellowship. In college, I majored in Earth Science Chemistry at UCSD with minors in Biology and Education. I got my teaching credential at UCSD.
Hobbies
My favorite things to do include getting into the outdoors with my family, building things, and learning new things.

Resources
CANVAS- All class activities, resources, project rubrics, etc are here. Students and parents can check grades here and see feedback from the teacher.
When students and parents check grades in CANVAS it is easy to see what was submitted and to double check the assignment requirements.
