This week in class, you will be reading "Fish Cheeks" by Amy Tan (my favorite author :)).

In “Fish Cheeks,” which is about a Chinese American girl who feels embarrassed by her family during dinner, Tan explores how culture can be essential to a person’s identity.

As you read, we will be exploring the themes of Friendship & Family, Growing Up, and Identity as they relate to the text. We are trying to answer these big questions :

"What does it mean to be grown up?", "Can you change your identity?", and "What makes a family?"
