Get familiar with google apps for education in a fun collaborative atmosphere! Using google classroom we will look at docs, forms, slides, sheets, and more.

Motivational Video Hooks to Promote Student Curiosity - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione & Heidi Paullus

How do you use video in your classroom? We explore tools, including getting in deeper with Youtube, and discuss the many roles video can play in your lessons.

Explicit Instruction - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Scott & Sue Smith

Using Dr. Anita Archers book, Explicit Instruction: Effective and Efficient Teaching, we will take the day examining the elements and principles and putting them into action in our classrooms. We will answer the questions: who does it benefit, what does it look like, how does it work, why is it effective, and where and when should I use it? It is recommended to have the book to use as a reference.

How to Get Students Creating - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione & Heidi Paullus

Using tools like Adobe Spark we will explore how we can move students from just using technology to consume information and shift to creating and sharing their learning.

What Does Dyslexia in the Classroom Look Like? - AM - 8:30 to 11:30 - Scott & Sue Smith

Using Ronald D. Davis’ book, The Gift of Dyslexia we will learn why some of the smartest people can’t read and how we can assist them in learning in our classrooms. We will spend our time learning how a dyslexic thinks and processes information and how to reframe their learning abilities to overcome obstacles of learning and lead our students to their fullest potential.

Engaging Math Strategies - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione

Explore math instruction as a whole, how to increase math talk, explore tools, discuss strategies on how to make math real and not just a worksheet. Be ready to share and have fun!

Technology in the Primary Classroom (K - 3) - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Heidi Paullus

We will discuss classroom management, using centers, tech skills, and use some great sites and apps like Seesaw to help with integration of your technology into your curriculum.

Ready/iReady Math Overview - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione

This session will be an overview of Ready math and the online iReady component. This is beneficial for teachers who feel the need for a refresher or a chance to reflect with others now that you've used it for the first year or for teachers new to a district or grade level.

Exploring Pre-ETS, the bricks to building successful employment for students - AM - 8:30 to 11:30 - Lon Thornburg

What are the “Pre ETS”? What kinds of topics do we teach? How do we know which ones’ students have and don’t have? What resources are there to teach them? This session will start at the basics looking at the Pre ETS and the areas in each of the 5 domains. We will look at the WIOA guidelines on Pre ETS and the mandate for the states to provide them through vocational rehabilitation and through the transition page on the IEP. Leave this session with a better handle on what the Pre ETS are and how to cover them in your lessons and activities.

SPED Transition Planning with Student-Centered Activities - Hands-On Activities, Ideas, and Online Resources - PM - 12:30 to 3:30 - Lon Thornburg

This session will be open exploration of ways to engage students in planning their own transition pathway. We will explore motivational interviewing, video resumes, one-page collages, templates and organizers for person centered profiles. We will look at how to work with students on developing their “story” which includes their dream job, recognizing obstacles and ways to overcome them to reach their goals. If you have a laptop or iPad/iPhone, please bring to use.

Canvas - the Next Step! - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione & Heidi Paullus

For teachers that have logged into Canvas, explored a little, are wanting to start using Canvas either online or hybrid. We will collaboratively explore built in Canvas tools, share experiences, and discuss what makes for quality online/hybrid instruction.

The Chromebook 1-1 Classroom - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Joe Buglione & Heidi Paullus

With so many chromebooks in classrooms it's important to understand google, extensions, and other edtech tools and how it will and should change the way the classroom operates. For example how to keep it collaborative and creative all while students have online access and how moving to more online opportunities should allow teachers to work more efficiently!

Wednesday, August 9th

Sign Language for Your Classroom - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Malina Lindell

This class will focus on how to integrate sign language into your classroom. Participants will be introduced to signs used in schools and in special programs, the fingerspelled alphabet, and appropriate body, facial, and dramatic features of sign language. Ideas of how to use sign language in to your classrooms will be shared. The skills learned can be used with students of all hearing abilities!

Small Group Instruction and Independent Learning Strategies - All Day - 8:30 to 3:30 - Scott & Sue Smith

During our time we will share the importance of small group instruction along with strategies for forming groups and appropriate independent learning activities. This will be a hands-on day putting theory into action so you are able to take the strategies back to your classroom and successfully implement them into your instruction.
