My name is Julia Valentine. I am a current IMBRSea student on the Marine Ecology and Conservation track. I received my BSc in Environmental Science with a minor in Marine Biology in the United States. I have many broad interests from working with elasmobranchs, invertebrates, and corals to observing marine protected areas and participating in community outreach programs. From this Remote Professional Practice, I wanted to raise awareness about the effects people have on our oceans and to focus on informing the public about marine science.
The Mission
We hoped to develop a blog series that creates reusable and informative resources that can be use by IMBRSea students and anyone interested in marince science.
My original professional practice was supposed be on the evaluation of probiotics use in enrichment media for juvenile seahorses. The research was to be done at the University of Algarve in Faro Portugal.
Due to Covid-19, my new professional practice was remote creating a blog series where most of my research was conducted from my couch or patio!
