The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) located in Oostende, Belgium, it was launched on October 1, 1999 with 10 employees, and after 20 year, counts with more than 120 people working in a wide range of projects related to the seas and oceans.
VLIZ stands out by its data management centre, where the scientific datas are validated by high quality controls, safe stored and often available to the public.
From 2017 onwards, VLIZ has experienced an increase on its research facet. This situation led to an increase in its PhD positions, student summer jobs or internships opportunities. And as one of the partners, VLIZ has been accepting IMBRSea students for years, to carry out both professional practices and master thesis.
... so you and I can fantasise what it would have been like to work there.
