I have been enjoying teaching an introductory biology class, for non-majors, at Lindenwood University, starting in Fall 2024. This in-person lecture and lab course covers a wide variety of biology topics plus a little bit of chemistry. I strive to help students who are not science majors find that they can be successful in a science class.
I taught an introductory biology class, for non-majors, at our local community college from Fall 2017 until Spring 2023. The course covers everything from basic chemistry, to cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and diversity of life. I have taught this course in person, online, remotely, and in the hybrid format, and I have enjoyed all of it.
I had the pleasure of teaching adult learners basic math fundamental concepts, such as place value and rounding, whole number addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as fractions and decimals. This course is HyFlex, in that students can come to class in person, or on Zoom, or just work online without coming to class.
Math 1 is the second math course in the HSED program. Topics covered are: Ratios/Rates/Proportions, Percents, Measurement, Concepts in Statistics, and Real Numbers. This course is HyFlex, in that students can come to class in person, or on Zoom, or just work online without coming to class.
Math 2 is the third and last math course in the HSED program. Topics covered are: Solving Equations and Inequalities, Exponents and Polynomials, and Geometry. This course is HyFlex, in that students can come to class in person, or on Zoom, or just work online without coming to class.
I taught lab sections of Anatomy classes for two years. We used models to learn the following systems of the human body: bones, muscular, circulatory, digestive, urogenital, and the nervous system.
I taught lecture and lab for the second course Morningside's first year biology series. The class focuses on evolution, ecology, and the diversity of life, which are my favority biology topics!
I was a teaching assistant for a variety of classes during my graduate education, including:
Introductory biology labs
Comparative anatomy labs
Ecology recitations/labs
Field ecology
