Did you know that this year the Clean River Advisory Council has launched a Community Seed Library?
Seed libraries offer a way to preserve plant varieties, foster gardening knowledge, and build self-reliance within the community. Find us at scheduled local events across the Quad Cities area to grab your seeds and promote native planting.
We invite you to read below to learn more and connect with available resources found below.
What’s a Seed Library?
A Seed Library is just like a book library—but with seeds! You browse, borrow, and plant seeds for free. If you can, return or donate seeds at the end of the season to keep the cycle growing!
Why It Matters:
✅ Encourages home, school, and community gardening✅ Supports pollinators like bees & butterflies✅ Preserves local and native seed varieties✅ Builds access to healthy, homegrown food✅ Brings neighbors together to learn and grow
Who Can Use It?
Everyone is welcome! From beginners to green thumbs—families, schools, and curious gardeners of all ages. No experience needed. Just a willingness to try something new and grow!
How It Works:
Browse our seed selection—free for all.Take what you need (just a few seeds, not the whole pack).Plant at home, in containers, or at a community garden.Use local guides to help care for your plants:📍 Rock Island Library📍 Davenport Library📍 Master Gardeners hotline📍 Growing and Planting Guides Return or donate seeds at the end of the season (optional but appreciated!).
