Eagle Academy: CSPK8 - Policies & Procedures

Policies & Procedures

Location: Rooms 162 - 165, at the end of the 8th-grade hallway.
Arrival: Eagle Academy begins at 3:45 p.m. When the bell rings at 3:40 p.m., students should report directly to Eagle Academy.
Late arrival: Students arriving after 3:50 p.m. will be sent to After School Discipline (ASD) until 4:15 p.m. before returning to Eagle Academy.
Siblings: Siblings of Eagle Academy students must be picked up during the normal driveline time.
Pickup: Dismissal begins at approximately 4:45 p.m. through the red/orange driveline. Driveline cards are required for student pickup. Students who have been not been picked up by 5:00 p.m. will be taken to the front office.

Which students are assigned to Eagle Academy?

Students may be assigned to Eagle Academy for the following reasons:

Accountability: If a student has an overall class average below 70% and receives a zero (0) on an assignment.
Mastery Learning: If a student has an overall class average below 70% and scores below 70% on an assignment. A teacher will assist the student with mastery of the learning.
Administrative/Teacher Assignment: Administrators or teachers may assign a student to Eagle Academy at any time if they belive the additional support will benefit the student.

How are families notified of Eagle Academy?

Both parents will receive an automated phone call by 6:00 p.m. the day before, stating that their child has been assigned to Eagle Academy the following day.
Both parents will receive an email detailing why their child is assigned to Eagle Academy, including the subject and assignment description.
Students will also receive an email detailing why they are assigned to Eagle Academy, including the subject and assignment description. Students can access their school email through the Gmail app in Classlink.

How do students get excused from Eagle Academy?

Medical Appointment

If a student has a medical appointment that conflicts with Eagle Academy, an email must be sent to the Eagle Academy team at CSK8_EA@iltexas.org as soon as possible.
A doctor's note will be required, and the student will be rescheduled.

Work Completion

Students who complete their assigned work before Eagle Academy may be excused by submitting the Eagle Academy Assignment Submission Form (linked in the Eagle Academy email) before 10:00 p.m. the night before Eagle Academy.

To be excused from Eagle Academy, students must:

Complete the assigned work.
Submit the form using their ILTexas Google Account.
Attach a photo of the completed work taken from their Chromebook or a screenshot of the completed digital assignment.
Submit a separate form for each assignment.

Important Deadline: The Assignment Submission Form automatically closes at 10:00 p.m. each school night. Students must complete the work and submit the form with the required attachment before the form closes. Once the completed work and form have been submitted successfully before the deadline, the student is excused from Eagle Academy for that assignment.

Upon submission, the student will receive an automated confirmation email. If he confirmation email is not received, the Submission Form was not successfully submitted, and the student will be required to attend Eagle Academy.

Students who do not complete the work and submit the form for each assignment before the deadline must attend Eagle Academy as assigned.

Attendance Expectations & Consequences

Because Eagle Academy is designed to help students succeed, attendance is mandatory once a student is assigned.

If a student is absent from school for the entire day, the student will not be counted as skipping Eagle Academy.
If a student is more than 5 minutes late to Eagle Academy, they will be sent to the gym for ASD until 4:15 p.m. and will then return to Eagle Academy afterwards.

If a student does not attend Eagle Academy (or is over 5 minutes late), the following progressive steps will be taken:

First Missed Eagle Academy: The parent is contacted by phone and email. The student is issued a referral for skipping Eagle Academy and is assigned to After School Discipline (ASD). The student is still required to make up the missed Eagle Academy.
Second Missed Eagle Academy: The student is issued a referral for skipping Eagle Academy and is assigned one day of Out-of-School Suspension (OSS). The student is still required to make up the missed Eagle Academy.
Third Missed Eagle Academy: A parent conference is scheduled with the Eagle Academy Assistant Pricipical. The student is issued a referral for skipping Eagle Academy and is assigned two days of OSS. The student is still required ot make up the missed Eagle Academy.
Fourth Missed Eagle Academy: The principal meets with the parents. The student is issued a referral for skipping Eagle Academy and is assigned three days of OSS.
If the problem persists: The principal may recommend the student for expulsion after completion of three separate Out-of-School Suspensions.
Failure to attend assigned ASD: If a student does not attend assigned ASD for a skipped Eagle Academy session, they will be assigned Out-of-School Suspenision (OSS).
