Frequently Asked Questions
Can I participate?
If you are an Ohio student in grades 7-12 you can apply for College Credit Plus admission to any Ohio public or participating private college. The college will determine your eligibility and admit you based on your college-readiness in one or more subject areas. In order to participate you must attend the informational meeting in the spring, turn in your paperwork by April 1st, and meet college specific requirements.
How can CCP benefit me?
College Credit Plus provides more options for you to pursue rigorous academic coursework beyond the high school classroom. Under College Credit Plus, you can complete college courses toward a degree or certificate, or explore college content that interests you. Earning college credits while you’re in high school can reduce the time and cost of attending college after high school.
Will CCP grades appear on my high school transcript?
Yes. High school credit awarded for courses successfully completed under College Credit Plus will appear on your high school transcript. Courses successfully completed under College Credit Plus must be listed by course title on the high school transcript. CCP courses are weighed on a 4.0 scale with the grade letter assigned by the college.
What happens if I fail a class?
Classes failed or withdrawn with an “F” (or equivalent failing grade) will receive an “F” on the high school and college transcripts and will be computed into the high school and college GPA. If you do not receive a passing grade, the district will seek reimbursement from you for the amount of state funds paid to the college on your behalf for that college course (tuiton and cost of books)
What courses CAN I take?
CCP Students must take 15 credits of Level 1 courses, these can be found on each college's website and include a wide variety of courses. Students must also quality for the courses (GPA, prerequsites). Your CCP advisor will be the best person to ask if you are unsure about if you are elgiable for a course.
What courses should I take?
When selecting which CCP classes to take it is helpful to think about future goals (Anticipated college and major). Colleges usually have a sample curriculum for each major available online. This is helpful to see which classes can be completed while in high school to get a head start. We recommend taking classes on the approved Ohio Transfer Model (general education courses that are guaranteed to transfer from one Ohio public college or university to another) or using Transferology.com to verify the courses will tranfer.

Online/On-Campus College Credit Plus Classes
As a College Credit Plus student, you are eligible to take classes online and on-campus. Each college has different course offerings and requirements for admission. Linked below are some of the most common colleges for IL students to take courses through (Click on the school logo for info), but you are able to take classes through any public or participating private college in Ohio.
**Students are eligible to take up to 30 hours of credits, which includes regular high school classes (3 credits for each full-year class). Check with Mrs. Darrough to ensure you are under your allowed credits**
It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to complete the college application for their in-house CCP courses. If the student is not accepted or registered in the college section of the course before it begins, they will only receive high school credit.
Students who participate in College Credit Plus are responsible for requesting their college transcript from the institution issuing the College Credit Plus (CCP) credit. Indian Lake High School is NOT able to request transcripts on behalf of the student.
Students should request their college transcripts to be sent to the college/university they plan to attend after graduation from high school and completion of the CCP coursework. Student Athletes who will be competing in Division 1 or 2 athletics in college should request their college transcripts be sent to NCAA as well.
Students are responsible for paying any transcript request fees.
