Hi! I’m Sharanya Bhattacharjee, a Ph.D. student in Economics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My research interests lie at the intersection of development economics, human capital, and gender—I'm especially drawn to questions about how institutions and policy shape the lives of women and children in low-income settings.
I grew up in Kolkata, India, a city that never quite leaves you, no matter where you go. Before crossing continents for my Ph.D., I completed my B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta in 2020 and my M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics,Pune in 2022.
