The Borromini Institute will send a Record of Study ( = a transcript) for all students who complete all academic components of courses and/or academic internships. The Record of Study, including program dates, a list of courses they completed (including internship), and grades earned from the Borromini Institute will be available approximately two to three weeks after the end of the program.
Once the University of Illinois receives the Record of Study, processing will take at least one semester. You can track to see when your transcript is processed by the Office of the Registrar by when the digital copy is uploaded into your My Study Abroad documents center in your program application.
Final grades are reported at the end of each term in the following way:
100% A+ Exceptional; significantly exceeds the highest expectations for undergraduate work
95% A Outstanding; meets the highest standards for the assignment or course
90% A- Excellent; meets very high standards for the assignment or course
85% B+ Very good; meets high standards for the assignment or course
80% B Good; meets most of the standards for the assignment or course
75% B- More than adequate; shows some reasonable command of the material
70% C+ Acceptable; meets basic standards for the assignment or course
65% C Acceptable; meets some of the basic standards for the assignment or course
60% C- Acceptable, while falling short of meeting basic standards in several ways
55% D Minimally acceptable; lowest passing grade
50% F Failing; very poor performance
Your College's Records Officers will use the final Course Approval Form you submitted to determine how the course will transfer to UIUC (grade, credit/no credit, and the course equivalency). Each College's instructions, requirements, and deadlines are available on the College Course Approval Instructions page.
The transcript and credit recommendation will be sent to the Registrar's Office for final processing. They will add the courses, credits, and grades to your permanent record. Please note that it could take up to six months, or more, for your final grades to appear on your student record and degree audit.
Students will only need to fill out Columns 1-4.
Column 1: indicate the course name; for the length, all the courses you took should be semester-long courses. You need to indicate all the courses you've taken abroad if you wish to earn the corresponding credits.
Column 2: check the course approval database and indicate Y/N accordingly. If a course is not currently in the database and you would like to have it approved for specific UIUC credit, you will have to contact the corresponding course approver.
Column 3: check your College's instructions to see what their grading policies are. Students are also encouraged to work with their academic advisor to learn more about how their study abroad grades fit within their graduation progress.
Column 4: indicate the equivalency indicated in the course approval database, if applicable, or by the course approver.
All courses taken abroad will be processed for credit and grades. If you wish to take a course for credit/no credit (C/NC), submit the credit declaration form accessible via this link: https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/3464629. Please specify the courses for which you wish to receive credit only. Please also remember you need to earn a C- or higher to earn credit and courses taken for credit only cannot be used to satisfy University requirements.
LAS students should direct all questions regarding general education credit requests to Dean Steltman: steltman@illinois.edu
For fall abroad, the credit declaration form may be submitted anytime up until the first Friday in March and for spring abroad, up until the first Friday in October of the following semester.
