Borromini Institute staff works with the Office of LAS International Programs to support you through the entire experience. Participants earn LAS hours and residency credit and may work towards completing their foreign language requirement while abroad.
Through the Fall, Spring, and Summer semester abroad programs with the Borromini Institute in Rome, you will experience many facets of Italian culture and society.
In-class learning is complemented by educational site visits around and outside of Rome. Course activities include practica such as the production of a video documentary, cooking labs, wine tasting sessions, place-making workshops, and group work with other students from Italian universities in Rome. You will meet with experts in various industries and learn directly from their experience.
Illinois in Rome programs take place at the Borromini Institute. A partner of the University of Illinois since 2005, the Borromini Institute has served over 700 Illinois students in study and intern abroad programs as well as faculty-led short-term programs.
Housed in the center of Rome, the Borromini Institute is the academic headquarters for study abroad programs focused on food systems, social justice, sustainable urbanism, and digital media.
