Meet our officers

I am a third-year PhD student in the Yang Lab researching the mechanisms causing nitrous oxide emissions from agricultural ecosystems. Outside of lab I enjoy crocheting, cooking, hiking, and reading! 

I am a third-year PhD student in the Dalling lab. I study the interactions between endophytic fungi and seeds from tropical forests in Panama, specifically, the enzymatic seed defenses against endophytic fungal pathogens. Outside of lab I enjoy hiking, cooking Peruvian food, birdwatching, swimming and hanging out with friends! 

I'm a second-year PhD student in the Marks Lab, working on the genetics and phenomics of polyploid resurrection grass Microchloa afra. When not worrying over plant babies in the greenhouse, I enjoy hiking, baking, and reading or writing weird ecological sci-fi.

I am a master’s student in the Burgess Lab, where I study the factors that influence the rate and mechanisms of photosynthetic induction in Miscanthus. The broader goal of my research is to understand how plants adjust their photosynthesis to fluctuating light conditions. Outside of the lab, I enjoy baking, knitting, and spending time with my cat, Bear. 

I am a Plant Biology PhD student working in Mark Lara’s lab. My research explores the dynamic changes in Arctic tundra ecosystems, focusing on how the landscape evolves across time and space after thermokarst events. When I’m not in the lab or field, you can find me dancing, swimming, or enjoying board games! 

I am a third-year PhD student in Katy Heath’s lab. I’m researching the ways in which rhizobia benefit legumes and other plants when they are in the rhizosphere, and how this might alter the ecology and evolution of symbiosis. Outside of work, I enjoy going to concerts, reading, and spending time with friends and family! 

I am a second-year PhD student in the Marks Lab. I study resurrection plants in South Africa to understand how vegetative desiccation tolerance interfaces with plant community structure, individual resilience, and micro-environmental variables.  Outside of lab, I enjoy reading, drawing, and hiking.
