Join a team at UIUC working towards Realizing Improvements in Photosynthetic Efficiency (RIPE) in crops
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in Dr. Laurie Leonelli’s group to investigate energy harvesting, energy dissipation, and carotenoid composition in crop canopies. Altering pigment composition and enzyme kinetics have demonstrated potential to increase photosynthetic yields without compromising sustainability. Come grow with us!
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and experience in:
· Molecular biology techniques
· Biochemistry (protein work and HPLC)
· Field experimental design
· Plant physiology measurements
· Genomics
As well as:
· A willingness to learn and apply new techniques
· A positive, collegial attitude and openness to collaboration
· A habit of organization and productivity
· A current US driver’s license (necessary for field component)
Main job responsibilities will include: (1) To study the role of the pigment cycling in photosynthesis; (2) To design and execute field trials; (3) To regularly report progress on project goals; (4) To prepare manuscripts and presentations; (5) To provide mentorship to graduate students and undergraduates.
To learn more or apply for this position, please send your CV, a cover letter summarizing your interest and qualifications, and contact information for three professional references to Dr. Leonelli at LeonelliLab@gmail.com.
