An interdisciplinary talk series initiative advancing responsible AI through global, community-centered, and socially grounded perspectives.
AI is increasingly shaping societies worldwide, yet many systems often reflect a narrow set of data, cultural assumptions, institutional priorities concentrated in the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) populations.
The Global Responsible AI Network (GRAIN) creates a collaborative space for researchers, students, and practitioners to engage with responsible AI from diverse global perspectives. Through a series of talks and discussions, we work toward a future of “AI for all”, where AI are accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive across different regions and communities.

The Global Responsible AI Network (GRAIN) is organized by the Illinois Responsible AI (IRAI) Group at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, directed by Prof. Sharifa Sultana.
The IRAI Group bring community-centered perspectives into the design of AI-driven tools and systems across global and local contexts.
