Student Teaching

Overview

I completed my student teaching in two placements, one secondary and one elementary. I started with eight weeks at Deerfield High School, teaching and assisting in a variety of mediums with two experienced cooperating teachers. In my second eight weeks, I moved to Forest and Central Elementary Schools in Des Plaines and co operated with a traveling art teacher in her first through fifth grade classes. This section documents my experiences, lessons, and assessments as well as showcasing process photos and final student artwork. I have learned a great deal during these sixteen weeks, and this experience has only cemented my passion and love for teaching art.

Exhibitions

BFA Exhibition

Each year, the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign showcases the work of its undergraduate artists. This year marks the first time since 2019 that the show will be presented both online and in-person at the Krannert Art Museum. My entry into this show is a culmination of all of my work at Art and Design and contains many callbacks to my previous studio classes. The pandemic made my college experience extremely unique and everything I went through to deal with that unique experience is reflected in my work.

CSL Exhibition

My cooperating teachers at Deerfield High School graciously invited me to participated in the Central Suburban League Art Educator Exhibition. This show took place in the Ann Brierley Gallery at New Trier High School. I am an alum of New Trier, and was part of the first AP Art class to present an art show in that gallery when it was first built. It was a full circle moment to showcase my own work in that space for the second time as a near college graduate. It was also an honor to be involved in a show alongside my own high school art teachers, as well as my co-ops whom I greatly admire.
