Welcome! We are Ellie Lynch and Aditi Narayan Panji, and this website was developed as part of ARCH 596: Building Anthropocene Air, taught by Professor Didem Ekici in Spring 2026.
Created collaboratively by Ellie Lynch and Aditi Narayan Panji, this work explores air as a social, political, and environmental condition shaped by architecture and the built environment. Through research and analysis, we examine how climate change, pollution, contagion, and inequality influence the atmospheres we inhabit and the spaces we design.

My name is Ellie Lynch, and I am a graduate architecture student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am deeply passionate about the intersection of architectural design, building performance, and sustainability.
This course has been especially influential in shaping my perspective, as we have explored how air has both influenced and been impacted by the built environment throughout history.
My name is Aditi Narayan Panji, and I’m a graduating Master of Architecture student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a concentration in health and wellbeing in the built environment.
I’m interested in how air, climate, and comfort influence human experience, which led me to take this class and explore architecture’s role in responding to environmental challenges in the Anthropocene.
