Zhengyu Tao
M.S. Student
Zhengyu is a Master’s student in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on the application of multi-robot collaboration, robotic perception, and artificial intelligence in engineering systems. He is currently involved in the Smart Safety Co-pilot for Drone Inspection project, working on the design and implementation of visual–inertial SLAM (VSLAM) algorithms for UAV localization and environment mapping in dynamic and GPS-denied construction environments. His broader research goal is to develop intelligent robotic systems that enhance safety and autonomy in construction and infrastructure inspection.
