Through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) projects, students experience the responsibility of completing a significant piece of work over an extended period of time. MYP projects encourage students to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work – key skills that prepare them for success in further study, the workplace and the community.
All students who complete the MYP in Year 5 complete the Personal Project (PP). Schools register all MYP Year 5 students for external moderation of the personal project, promoting a global standard of quality.
This year, we've introduced Personal Inquiry Projects (PIP) for students in grades 6-9. These projects are shorter, yet follow the Personal Project criteria with grade appropriate expectations. These projects are meant to build the skills needed to later succeed in the Personal Project, as well as build personal interests, self-efficacy, and perseverance.
Students are also invited to complete community projects through Service As Action/Community Engagement, providing an important opportunity for students in MYP to collaborate and pursue service-learning in the greater community. For students completing PIPs, their 2nd project should tie to the community and service learning. For grade 10 students, they will complete additional SA/CE projects alongside their Personal Project.
MYP projects are student-centered and age-appropriate, and they enable students to engage in practical explorations through a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection.
