Welcome to the Vocal and General Music Department
at
Indian Lake Central School
The Choral/General Music Department at Indian Lake Central School is a cornerstone in the diverse selection of academic programs. The Department consists of two major choral ensembles; a 6th-12th Grade Chorus that meets every other day and a 2nd-5th Grade Chorus that meets once per week outside of regular general music lessons. Additionally, there is an Acapella group and a Select Choir comprised of 6th-12th grade students that meet outside of the regular school day. ILCS Acapella is open to students during the winter, while admission into the Select Choir will be chosen by Mr. Gratto in April through an audition process.
Students in the department also have the opportunity to partake in private voice lessons as an elective. If they are unable to fit lessons into their academic schedule, they are always welcome to visit Mr. Gratto's room to sing if he has a prep period. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in regional honors ensembles including, but not limited to, All-County, Area All-County, NYSSMA Solo Festival, and NYSSMA Conference All-State
The Department is always looking for new members, and no prior experience is necessary - only a desire to learn more about singing, and a willingness to open yourself to the rich tradition of choral music.
