Shall the board of directors of the IKM-Manning CSD in the counties of Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, and Shelby, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $19,800,000 to provide funds to build, furnish, and equip additions to the existing 4-12 school building, including a secure entrance, classrooms, and common areas; to remodel, repair, equip, and improve existing portions of the 4-12 building, including HVAC improvements; and for track and field improvements, including related site improvements?
The proposed project involves constructing, furnishing, and equipping an addition to the existing Manning building. This addition would bring all PS–3rd grade students together on one campus, joining the rest of the student body. The project also includes renovations and upgrades to the current Manning building, such as improvements to the HVAC system.
A new elementary wing with new classrooms and support rooms will be added in order for the elementary to be housed in one location.
Having one campus for the district will cut back on many expenses including bussing and operating expenses for the district. It will also cut back on travel time for staff who are shared between both buildings. All renovations and additions will also be ADA compliant to create an inclusive learning environment for all students.
