Machine Vibration analysis

Course contents

  1. Single degree of a vibration system,

2. Vibration of multi-degree of freedom system

3. Computation techniques

4. Vibration measuring devices:

5. Energy-based approaches: Virtual work, Lagrange equations

6. Vibration of the continuous system

7. Random vibration and frequency approach.

For M. Tech design students since they have already gone through the Energy-based approaches and part of computational techniques, additional topics will be covered.

Grading policy

  1. Live classes are going to be conducted for the course at the scheduled slots.

  2. Attendance is mandatory. In case the attendance fall below 75%, the penalty of one grade is going to be imposed.

  3. The evaluation is going to consist of 2 tests (10 each), mid-term(20), programming as well as theoretical assignments(30) , final exam(30).

  4. The programming assignments can be done on MATLAB/Python, Mathematica.

  5. Other than extreme grades (A and F), the grading is going to be relative.
