Joining the IDEAs lab

How to join - The best way would be to get in touch with Pratik or one of the other IDEAs lab members and discuss potential research topics, career aspirations, etc.

Who can join - PhDs looking for PDFs or senior research positions; Graduates interested in a PhD position; BTech or MTech students looking for capstone projects or internships; BTech students interested in an early start to research. Of course, it all depends on an opening existing. To know about the latest opportunities, go through the nuggets below!

Collaborating with us

At IDEAs lab, we are open to collaboration and joint projects in the broad area of interfaces in materials.

Collabs come in a variety of forms from joint supervision of PhD / MTech / BTech students, research grants and even unfunded initiatives in areas of mutual interest.

PDF/Senior Researchers

Kindly get in touch with Pratik if you are interested in PDFs or senior research positions. By and large, these positions are available through competitive national level fellowships such as NPDF / INSPIRE / WOSA etc.

Presently, we do not have any project funded openings.

PhD positions

If you are interested in a PhD position, please go through these web pages and get in touch with Pratik. PhD positions are funded through Institute fellowships as well as CSIR-UGC-NET etc. or project funding.

MTech Students

The admission to the MTech program is through GATE. The projects are allotted at the end of 1st semester. If you would like to work with us, let Pratik know at the earliest so that a suitable research problem may be framed accordingly.

JRFs/SRFs

JRFs/SRFs are funded from projects. Typically, we expect the JRFs to continue for a PhD (funded from the project) with the IDEAs lab. However, this is not a necessity.

Presently, all the JRF positions are filled and we do not have any new openings

BTech (1st/2nd/3rd year)

Looking for an early exposure to materials research? Get in touch if you are keen to start with computational work/ML. An early start can be converted to Capstone projects later on.

Usually, the final Capstone projects will have experimental component as well.

BTech Capstones

Capstone projects 'cap' your undergrad program with an opportunity for cutting edge research. Capstone projects are allotted based on CGPA - unless you are already working with us, in which case you can continue!

Capstone projects are allotted by your Faculty advisor (FA). Get in touch with your FA for more details.

Internships

We actively encourage both semester and summer internships. Sometimes, internships in the middle of the semester may also be available. Summer internships are available through IIT Ropar. Funded internships may be available from time to time.

Presently, no internships are available at IDEAs lab.
