I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology, at the Manipal Centre for Humanities, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). I am also the co-ordinator for Center for Women’s Studies at MAHE and also served as an Internal Ethics Committee Member from 2018-2021 at Kasturba Medical College and Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. I am a social gerontologist and medical sociologist by training. My research focuses on cultural experiences of ageing, intergenerational relationships and institutional later life care. Additionally, I explore issues related to maternal health, infertility and health inequalities across the globe. My book, “Culture, Context and Aging of Older Indians: Narratives from India and Beyond”, has recently been published by Springer (2021). For this book I have received the prestigious Shastri Publication Grant from the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI). Currently, I am working on the impact of COVID-19 on older adults in India.
