Presently, the two utmost challenges for the world today are shifting energy production to a sustainable and cleaner energy source and powering ground transportation from conventional internal combustion engines (ICEs) to electric vehicles (EVs). EVs would be a crucial player to replace the conventional transportation system due to lower carbon dioxide (CO) emissions in light of global environmental issues to help achieve that goal. The global electric vehicle market is projected to grow from 4093 thousand units in 2021 to 34756 thousand units by 2030, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.8%.
India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 90 per cent in this decade to touch $150 billion by 2030, as reported by consulting firm RBSA Advisors. The Indian EV market is currently in its infancy and is estimated grow at CAGR of 90 per cent from 2021 to 2030. In terms of penetration, EV sales accounts for barely 1.3 per cent of total vehicle sales in India during 20-21. However, the market is growing rapidly and is expected to be worth more. India's shift to shared, electric and connected mobility could help the country save nearly one giga-tonne of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. The report states that EV technology evolution in India requires sizable investment in R&D and product development, both on the automobile platforms and battery/charging technology. Collective investment done by 2W, 3W, 4W, EV component makers and last mile delivery companies was recorded at Rs ~25,000 crore during January– July 2021. The demand incentives provided under FAME II, the launch of state policies, rising fuel prices, tightening emissions laws and increasing awareness of the green environment are few factors making the sector attractive to larger automobile players and financial investors, as per the report. Hello visitor! A warm welcome to this webpage. Myself Vivek Saxena and currently I’m pursuing my doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Indore. I am working under the guidance of Dr. Santosh Kumar Sahu and Dr. Shailesh I. Kundalwal. Before joining the Ph.D. at IIT Indore, I completed my Master’s (M.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur under the guidance of Dr. Hardik Kothadia in the area of boiling and condensation. There, I worked on two distinct research projects, including one industry-sponsored project from Thermax SPX Energy Technologies Limited.
I hail from the beautiful city of Bhopal (also known as the city of lakes) Madhya Pradesh. One of my favorite pastimes is playing sports, particularly volleyball and carrom. Another activity I enjoy is flying kites, which provides a unique sense of freedom and enjoyment. I have a passion for nature and enjoy visiting national parks and hill stations and exploring the serenity and beauty of our natural world.
I am a research enthusiast and I want to contribute to the development of EVs in India. At present, I am working in the area of Passive Battery Thermal Management Systems for electric vehicles (E.V.s) battery modules. I aim to develop advanced phase change materials (PCMs) based composites for battery thermal management to maintain the optimum temperature of the battery modules during their operation cycles. There is a need to develop more reliable and efficient thermal management techniques for battery modules to ensure enhanced safety and dependability.
Here at IIT Indore, I am actively involved in various projects in the area of energy storage and thermal management using phase change materials. I was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) to carry out my PhD using the proposed research work in the area of passive battery thermal management using phase change composite.
