Research Interest: Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Role of Sleep in Memory Processing (Especially False Memory), EEG/ERP, ECG/HRV Techniques, Brain Stimulation (tDCS).

Dr. Kedarmal Verma is an Assistant Professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore. He earned his PhD in Cognitive Psychology from IIT Guwahati, where he investigated the relationship between sleep and memory, particularly false memory formation. 

Dr. Verma specialises in memory and cognition, with a focus on false memory and destination memory. His research explores how cognitive and emotional factors shape memory processes. Additionally, he examines the impact of sleep quality, sleep deprivation, and electrophysiological markers on memory consolidation and cognitive performance. 

His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has been presented at national and international conferences. Through experimental and interdisciplinary approaches, his work aims to advance the understanding of memory mechanisms and their broader implications.

My research focuses on destination memory—the ability to remember to whom I conveyed information—and how it is shaped by emotional factors. I examine how the emotional valence of the information and the affective states of both the speaker and the recipient influence memory accuracy. This work helps us better understand how emotions impact memory in social interactions and has potential implications for real-world settings like communication and legal testimony.

Research Interest: Emotions, Reconstruction of Memory, Cognitive Neurosciences.

My research focuses on how emotions influence the formation of false memories. I study how positive, negative, and neutral emotional stimuli affect the accuracy of recall and recognition. Through experimental investigations, I aim to understand why emotionally charged stimuli can sometimes lead to memory distortions. This work has important implications for fields such as forensic and legal psychology, where the reliability of memory is crucial.

My study explores the influence of stress on prospective remembering, examining how emotional and physiological states impact attention, executive control, and goal maintenance. By integrating cognitive psychology, health, and applied cognition frameworks, my research aims to understand how everyday stressors and digital distractions affect memory-based self-regulation.
