Professor of Physics Indian Institute of Technology Indore
Dr. Preeti A. Bhobe is Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. She earned her Ph.D. in Physics from Goa University, receiving the national-level Best Thesis Award at the DAE-SSPS symposium. Her research area is experimental condensed matter physics, with a focus on magneto-transport and complex magnetic ground states, in various functional materials such as Heuslers, transition-metal chalcogenides, and 2D materials. She has extensive expertise in neutron diffraction, X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), and photoemission spectroscopy, which she applies to uncover structure–property correlations in advanced materials.
She has held prestigious fellowships, including the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (University of Tokyo & SPring-8, Japan), the Women in STEM Visiting Fellowship (Texas A&M University, USA), the International Guest Lecturer Fellowship (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany) and Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (T.I.F.R.) in Mumbai.
With significant number of peer-reviewed publications and leadership of multiple sponsored projects, she continues to advance the understanding of novel materials for energy and spintronic applications while mentoring the next generation of scientists.
