Preeti Bhobe earned her Ph.D. in Physics from Goa University, receiving the national-level Best Thesis Award at the DAE-SSPS symposium. She joined IIT Indore in December 2011 as an Assistant Professor, and presently a full Professor in the Department of Physics.
Her research area is experimental condensed matter physics, with a focus on quantum materials. She studies magneto-transport and complex magnetic ground statesin various functional materials such as Heuslers, transition-metal chalcogenides, and 2D materials. She has extensive expertise in neutron diffraction, X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), and photoemission spectroscopy, which she applies to uncover structure–property correlations in advanced materials.
She has held prestigious fellowships, including the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (University of Tokyo & SPring-8, Japan), the Women in STEM Visiting Fellowship (Texas A&M University, USA), the International Guest Lecturer Fellowship (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany) and Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (T.I.F.R.) in Mumbai.
