FANTI fellow: INAF-IRA Bologna (IT) Former: SARAO-SKA fellow (SA), Prime Minister's Research Fellow (IND)
Hello and a warm welcome to you here! This is Gourab Giri, currently working as a FANTI Postdoctoral Fellow at INAF–IRA in Bologna, Italy. This prestigious fellowship is named in honor of the renowned radio astronomer Professor Roberto Fanti, who passed away in 2023.
I was also serving as a postdoctoral research fellow in South Africa under the prestigiousSARAO/SKA Fellowship. I obtained my doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Technology Indore, 2023, where I was honored as a Prime Minister's Research Fellow.
I am an astrophysicist who is deeply interested in understanding and unraveling the secrets of galaxy evolution in the Universe. I specialize in modeling (bent) extragalactic jets (plasma outflows from active supermassive blackholes) spanning several kilo-to-mega light-years. I particularly explore their birth-growth-death phases through advanced numerical simulations. My research also encompasses the study of the evolution of massive (elliptical) galaxies resulting from galaxy mergers or interactions.
Personally, I am an 'open to all' person who does not want to constrain his soul to the regularities only. I am pretty much interested in any kind of discussion starting from street food exploration to the physics of galaxy evolution in galaxy clusters. I love to write sci-fi and adventure stories. Most importantly, I love to travel places around the world which in turn provide me happiness and plots for my stories. I am also heavily involved in science outreach activities.
