(1) Assistant Professor (from September 2018 – to present)
Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad. My areas of research are Power Electronics, Electric Drives, Renewable Energy Sources, Distributed Energy Generation, Standalone and Hybrid Energy Generation and Microgrid.
(2) Kinetica Solar Pvt Ltd., (formally known as Kisan Solar, Promoter: Tag Solar) (May 2014 )
Position: Chief Executive Officer- Research and Development
My position responsibility was the product development for the agrarian market. Below is the product list:
- 3Hp to 20Hp SPCM for standalone solar water pumping: The solar PV fed motor-pump controller technology invented by Kisan Solar incorporates many unique breakthrough features, which make it most suitable for solar PV based autonomous solar water pumping for irrigation and other purposes. These products are awarded by National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE-MNRE) certificates with the remark of excellence. Average MPPT efficiency is recorded above 99.5% over a complete radiation of a day, observed good dynamic response against radiation and temperature variations. The energy efficiency is 95% (including fan supply and control supply loss) and THD is below 3%. It is certified by UL, ERTL for IP54, and GERMI. We have jointly published journal paper with NISE (MNRE) on this product technology. We have patented some novel part of this technology. For this product development, I have been awarded by Semikron with the certification of recognition for best innovation in the development of SPCM for solar water pumping applications using Semitrans devices and skyper drivers. We have developed 50Hp capacity solar fed multichannel hybrid type power conditioning unit for solar water pumping system in collaboration with RAIDCO Kerala Ltd. The project is funded by ANERT (Kerala State Government Agency for Renewable Energy) functioning as a state nodal agency under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
- 3Hp to 7.5Hp Standalone USAC for agriculture machines/ applications: Farmers can be equipped with PV power and motor control to run his other applications such as cutter/chaff, trashers, grinders, cold storage and so on. USAC can run the motor of these applications at rated voltage and frequency. USAC running the brick kiln is first commercialized in Haryana. Brick kiln is a challenging application where the starting phase of motor demands very high torque. Many Brick kiln is currently serving by diesel generators and consumes huge fuel cost. USAC can also run flour mill to grind grains. The quality of flour is maintained by USAC by running grinder at rated speed and pressure. USAC runs mini-cold storage at farms so that agriculture produce retains their value. The USAC system is hybrid with the support of single phase grid supply and machine delivers maximum efficiency as it is working at nominal/rated power irrespective of solar radiation variation.
- Single phase to DC converter for SPCM and USAC: We have developed the single-phase power factor correction based power converter for unidirectional grid supply integration to the SPCM and USAC to increase the end production of farmers by allowing him to run applications even during nights/evenings. The PV source and grid supply are seamlessly integrated at the common DC link. In spite of large variation at PV power due to intermittent nature of solar radiation, the application runs at constant power/speed/frequency without interruption in its output. Power extraction of PV panel will be optimized. High quality level of power extraction from grid is maintained by THD of input load current below 3%, power factory above 0.97 and no starting inrush current.
