The rich tradition and distinctive mathematical approach of Indian classical music are well known. The creative depiction (manodharma) of Swaras (notes) is highly embroidered with a variety of mathematical patterns, which contribute a wide range of flavors and textures to the music. In this regard, on December 13th, the music club of IIT Hyderabad will be hosting a musical event for the AFAA 2024 participants and speakers. Madhurima and Arunima on the veena and vocal respectively will showcase the magnificence of Indian music. During this event, the musicians will demonstrate one aspect of this tradition: Carnatic music, which is the traditional style of music that originates from South India, emphasizes the interaction between melody and rhythm. The evening will conclude with a Kuchipudi dance performance by the Sri Nataraja Spoorthi Dance Academy.
