Batch: 2013-2016

Learning from IITGN Library: IITGN library has taught me the lessons that one should have to become good LIS professionals in the field. I was learned on web-searching techniques to finding accurate information and quick delivery of information services to users. I was worked in the Information Technology Management & Scholarly Communication functional division of the IITGN library in which I got opportunities to practically explore the many technologies such as Dspace, Omeka, SubjectsPlus, & Greenstone Digital Library, CORAL ERMs etc and implement in the library. I have also got exposure on using of LMS (SOUL & Koha), CMS software (Joomla, WordPress, Drupal), basic programming language and Bibliographical compilation (Menedely and Zotero, JabRef) software, etc. And got opportunities to observe other library functionalities like information resource acquisition and technical services and information resource access & user services with helping each other work.

The major learnings were from the regular assignments, projects, virtual collections, collection evaluation, creation of resource guide, union catalogue of e-resources, and library activities such as open access week, scholarly communications promotion, science day & other library visits etc. The best experience was gained during library operation in both campuses including hostel area and library shitting from the old temporary campus to its permanent campus.

Being great mentors, the respected IITGN Library colleagues helped me to shape my early career in a better manner with professional ethics, technical LIS competencies and positive approach towards the LIS profession to serve user community at best.

Life after IITGN

Currently Working: Assistant Librarian, Central Library, IIT Delhi, New Delhi.

Job Profile: Collection Development Division (CDD). Technical Processing Division (TPD), IITD Central Library-interns Alumni Network (CLAN) and assisting in the implementation of technology solutions.

Interest in LIS Field: Research data management, scholarly communication & information technology in libraries.

Goals in LIS field: Discovering role of libraries & developing a practical solution for research data management in science & technology institutions in India. To become tech-savvy & information science LIS professional to serve user community in better way.  

Academic/Professional Achievement: India Public Libraries Conference (IPLC) 2017 Scholarship, Qualified UGC NET (July 2018).
