Masters of Design (M.Des) in
Integrated Design and Technology

Full-time bachelor’s degree (minimum 4-year or equivalent or more) in Design (B.Des), Architecture (B.Arch), Fine Arts (B.F.A/B.V.A), Engineering (B.E), or Technology (B.Tech) from a recognised institution.

Minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA as per Institute and Government of India norms. (50% marks or equivalent  for students from SC/ST/PwD categories). 

A valid Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) Score, conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay for admission to design programmes across IITs.

The Institute has its own Admission process and evaluating candidates, in addition to the CEED Score, which candidates need to qualify. 

Final selection will be based on performance in such tests (if applicable) along with the CEED Score.

All candidates who have qualified for CEED 2026 and meet the eligibility criteria can apply for admission to MDes at IIT Gandhinagar. 

Application forms for MDes at IIT Gandhinagar have to be filled online* and the fees^ have to be paid online. 

Applicants who qualify in CEED 2026 and meet eligibility criteria for each stream are eligible to apply to MDes at IIT Gandhinagar. They are suggested to visit IIT Bombay online application portal. 

All applications will be scrutinized to verify whether they meet the eligibility criteria of the streams/program applied to. Those applications not conforming to eligibility criteria will be rejected.

A category-wise merit list would be prepared based on the CEED score of the eligible candidates. The list will be announced on design.iitgn.ac.in as per the dates mentioned in the [Important Dates] section. 

List of shortlisted candidates is decided on the basis of category-wise seats available and by using a multiplying factor for each category.

The multiplying factor for all categories is 8 (eight).

Shortlisted candidates will appear for the IITGN Design Aptitude Tests (DATs): studio test and/or interviews, in person at IIT Gandhinagar on the dates declared in the [Important Dates] section. 

Final list of selected candidates will be prepared based on 70% CEED Score and 30% of IITGN DATs. This list will also be prepared category-wise. 

A final merit list would be constituted based on the above final score. Admission would be offered from this list based on seats available for each category**.

If selected, the candidate is required to confirm his/her seat by paying fees, deposits and hostel rent before the deadline indicated in the offer letter.
