About the event
About the event
There are 22 scheduled languages in India and hundreds of tribal languages. Development of speech recognition systems for these languages is a very resource and time intensive task. The recent trends in deep learning have provided several strategies that have created hopes to develop such systems by exploiting models trained on other languages. In the recent past there are several open source initiatives to aid such interests. In India, EkStep Foundation has been developing open source tools and techniques for speech technologies in Indian languages. This summer virtual school will provide hands-on training to interested research scholars and faculty members to develop speech recognition systems in their mother tongue using the tools and techniques developed by EkStep Foundation. Also, depending on the time available, exposure to other open source tool kits like Kaldi will be given.
