Dr. Mubarak Hussain has completed PhD (in Philosophy) in the Department of Humanities, Economics, Arts and Rural Technologies, Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad). He is a passionate researcher exploring the captivating domain of the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (Ethics of AI). With a deep understanding of the complex relationship between technology and morality, Mubarak Hussain delves into the complex ethical dimensions of AI, including privacy, bias, transparency, responsibility, and the societal impact of AI deployment. He is also highly fascinated by the meta-ethical inquiries about present and future AI systems. The moral status and moral agency of AI/AGI raise thought-provoking inquiries about the rights, personhood, ethical considerations, and moral responsibility associated with intelligent machines. His current research examines the following ethical issues. Does Artificial General Intelligent Systems (AGI) have moral status? If so, what are the criteria for saying that AGI has moral status? 2. Does the AGI system have moral agency? If so, how can its moral decision-making processes be evaluated?

He also collaborated on research addressing the socio-ethical issues of audio-video processing by AI and Deepfake technology. This collaboration has given him a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and potential harms associated with AI-driven manipulation of audiovisual content. He has explored the implications of these technologies for privacy, consent, and misinformation. He is examining whether there is a scope to work on developing ethical guidelines to mitigate their negative impact.
