Shifting the Paradigm in Inflammation & Disease Research
Our lab investigates the molecular mechanisms regulating inflammation and maintaining cellular homeostasis during inflammatory and infectious diseases. While inflammation is a protective response to harmful stimuli, prolonged or excessive inflammation can lead to autoimmune disorders and cancer. By understanding these processes, we aim to develop novel therapeutic targets.
Our Mission
To map the molecular blueprints of inflammation, uncovering the precise mechanisms that maintain cellular balance and paving the way for the next generation of targeted therapeutics.
Research Focus Areas
1. The Fine Line of Cellular Homeostasis
Inflammation is a brilliant, evolutionary survival mechanism, a protective fire meant to clear out harmful stimuli and initiate healing. However, when the body's internal thermostat fails, this protective response can spiral out of control. Our lab investigates the "on/off" switches at the molecular level that keep cells in a state of healthy equilibrium (homeostasis) during active infections.

2. Unmasking Chronic Pathologies: From Autoimmunity to Cancer
When inflammation becomes prolonged or excessive, it ceases to protect and begins to destroy. Chronic inflammation is the common thread linking devastating conditions, including autoimmune disorders and oncogenesis. We study how hyper-inflammatory states alter the cellular microenvironment, mutate signaling pathways, and ultimately trigger corporate cellular malfunction.

3. Translational Science: Translating Insights into Therapeutics
We don't just study pathways to understand them; we study them to disrupt them. By identifying the exact molecular gatekeepers responsible for runaway inflammation, our goal is to discover novel, druggable therapeutic targets. Our work bridges the gap between basic mechanistic biology and translational medicine to improve patient outcomes.
Why Our Work Matters
The Challenge
Traditional anti-inflammatories often broadly suppress the immune system, leaving patients vulnerable to infection.
Our Approach
We identify hyper-specific molecular mechanisms unique to chronic disease states.
The Goal
Precision medicine that halts hyper-inflammation while leaving healthy immune defenses intact.
