On-going Research Projects:
Previous Projects:
Industry Project: Fulham DCDC coupled Generating Station (PV + Battery) GPS Studies as per AEMO Guidelines.
Octopus pvt ltd. in Victoria, Australia is developing a DCDC coupled Solar with Battery storage system (80 MW Capacity at the POC) which is planned to be connected at the 66 kV terminal of AusNet sub-transmission network.
I was working as a Power System Engineer in Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd.
We did the studies to assess compliance with the requirements of the NER and serve as inputs to the Generator Performance Standard (GPS) in R0 study scope.
News: Successful Field Installation
Post-Doctoral Project: On line Condition Monitoring and Preventive Maintenance of Medium Voltage Under-ground Cables in Dubai.
We analysed the seasonal effect of Dubai on the condition of medium voltage underground cables as part of the project funded by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
We proposed on line condition monitoring techniques such as measuring the PD detection using HFCT sensors mounted on the cable surface.
We proposed to install thermocouples to monitor the thermal health of the cable online.
PhD Project: Hybrid Grid Synchronization and Enhanced Fault Ride-Through of Grid-connected Power Converter.
We analysed the issues with the poor fault ride-through (FRT) of grid-connected power converter synchronized with conventional synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop (SRFPLL) during grid faults with phase-angle jumps (PAJs).
We developed novel Hybrid Grid Synchronization transition scheme for three-phase power converters.
We developed enhanced frequency-adaptive single-phase grid synchronization technique.
We tested the FRT of power converters (up to 5 kW rating) with proposed synchronization principle using both simulation analysis and experimental validation.
Research Project: Condition Monitoring and Preventive Maintenance of Power Plant in Singapore.
A joint collaborative project between National University of Singapore (NUS) and SembCorp. Power Plant Singapore.
I was working as a Research Engineer from NUS.
Specific focus was given to detect the inter turn faults in Induction motor and Transformer as the critical power apparatus in the plant.
We designed a simulation prototype of the Induction motor in a completer power plant model based on the specifications given by the industry.
We proposed and analysed the inter turn fault detection in windings of Induction motor using co-simulation environment.
We analysed the impact of supply voltage and load current harmonics on the proposed fault detection technique.
