Team

Dr. Praveen Kumar joined IIT Bhilai as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics in May 2023. He woks in the area of optics, particularly for applications in information security, imaging, medical and quantum optics.

Before joining IIT Bhilai, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Houston (USA) and a JSPS fellow at Chiba University (Japan).  He did PhD from IIT Patna, MSc from NIT Jamshedpur, and BSc from St. Xavier's College Ranchi. 

He has published more than 30 papers in reputed international journals. He has received the KVRSS Research Award, OSI Best PhD Thesis Award at IIT Delhi, and the Thesis Award at IIT Guwahati for his research works. He is an active member of the Optical Society of India (OSI), OPTICA, and SPIE.
