Passionate about experimental research in aerodynamics? We are looking for Ph.D. students who have a strong background in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and hands-on testing methods.
The Low-Speed Experimental Aerodynamics Lab conducts research in rotary-wing aerodynamics, drone aerodynamics and design, flow diagnostic techniques, and aeroacoustics. Our work focuses on understanding and improving performance through experimental investigations, using techniques such as wind tunnel testing and flow visualization, often supported by simulations.
Current broad research areas in the lab include:
Rotary-Wing Aerodynamics – Studying the flow physics of rotors, propellers, rotary wing aircraft, aerodynamic interactions, and acoustics.
Drone Aerodynamics & Design – Investigating the aerodynamics of small UAVs and exploring design improvements.
Flow Diagnostic Techniques – Developing and applying experimental methods such as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to study complex flows.
If you are interested in joining the lab, please fill out the following form to express your interest: https://forms.gle/nnUJz9C4A7W4Vjqz6 , or contact dhwanil@aero.iitb.ac.in for more details.
