Student Committee for Research Affairs

The Student Committee for Research Affairs (SCRA) is in charge of all subjects related to research on campus. The mission of the SCRA is to advance research done by Illinois Tech students while developing a research active, ready, and diverse student population. We strive to work with all relevant offices and departments to increase the accessibility of research opportunities and expand university support for student research. You can reach out to us at sga.research@iit.edu for any inquiries or if you would like more information about this committee.

Please note that the SCRA is developing their own website. For now, here's a list of resources to help advance your research journey at Illinois Tech, as well as a chance to get to meet our leadership!

Nikhila Panyam

VICE PRESIDENT OF RESEARCH AFFAIRS

Hi, I'm Nikhila! I got involved with the SCRA because I love research and want to ensure everyone has a positive research experience, the chance to get involved, and knows what research at Illinois Tech is all about. I started off as the representative for psychology but became the Vice Chair of the committee shortly after its inception, managing the representatives and helping establish its founding structure.

Please reach out to me at sga.research@iit.edu if you have any research related questions!

Meet our founder!

Jacob founded the committee as a second-year undergraduate pursuing a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and M.S in Physics. At the time, he led the math and physics societies and had been the interim VP for Academic Affairs as well as a Senator. Prior to founding the committee, Jacob researched analytical formulations for axion dark matter searches using plasma haloscopes as well as simulated and analysed interferometric systems to study the effect of gravity on antimatter.
