Summary

Cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) systems are not constrained by cell-viability requirements, allowing protein synthesis to proceed with otherwise toxic protein products.

We use CFPS systems to develop a rapid drug-screening tool for the improvement of antimicrobial proteins that effectively target antimicrobial-resistant bacteria.
