Welcome to the Autonomous Systems Group @ Illinois Tech. Our labs conduct fundamental and applied research on the dynamics and control of autonomous systems. We aim to enable safe implementation of autonomous systems for ground, air and space applications.

Illinois Tech was selected to participate in the EcoCAR EV Challenge. EcoCAR provides our students with an opportunity to gain industry-like hands-on experience with the design and manufacturing of advanced automotive systems while engaging and informing the community of E-mobility. Meet our team.
The San Francisco Business Times reported that IIT was the fourth ranked school for new hires in autonomous vehicles industry.

Prof. Datta-Barua's group works toward accurate space weather forecasting through funding from NASA grant. This work also has applications related to climate change, as the models track how certain particles travel to the ozone layer where they can cause damage.
Prof. Hall's group begins research on hybrid data-driven, physics-based model structures that can enable accurate control of internal hydrogen fuel cell dynamics through funding from NSF's BRITE program.
Prof. HomChaudhuri's group will work on developing new infrastructure- and vehicle-level control methods to improve the energy efficiency of heterogeneous traffic network, which includes both human-driven and autonomous vehicles. This research project is funded by NSF, and will include data-driven modeling of uncertain systems, stochastic model predictive control, and distributed optimization methods.
