On January 25th, 2019, the Active Computational Thinking (ACT) Center in the Department of Computer Science launches AI@IllinoisTech. AI@IllinoisTech provides a platform for faculty, researchers, and educators to identify major research and engineering directions in Artificial Intelligence, form interdisciplinary partnerships, and foster innovation in AI. Envisioned outcomes include the formation of collaborative research groups, advances in AI education and workforce training, partnerships with government and industry, and the application of AI-related methods across a range of academic disciplines.
The AI@IllinoisTech initiative begins its series of events with “AI@IllinoisTech Collaboration Day” on January 25th. This event will bring Illinois Tech faculty, research staff and graduate students together to define AI and meet other Illinois Tech faculty and researchers who conduct core or applied AI research, work in AI-related fields, and who consider the social and legal dimensions of AI. The one-day free event will include presentations, lunch, a panel and afternoon break-out and networking sessions around AI topics of interest.
Faculty and researchers who work on AI, who use (or would like to use) AI techniques in their research or who conduct foundational work on AI in social and economic systems are invited to present a 5-minute lightning talk about their work or discuss open research challenges.
Presenters are required to register by the early registration deadline. Attendees must register by the final registration deadline. Registration in advance is required, as space cannot be guaranteed on the day of the event. This event is limited to Faculty, PhD students, Post Docs and M.S. students, with priority being given to Faculty and PhD students until we reach capacity.
